Tips and Tricks
General fishing applications:
• Between uses, remove the Firstrike™ indicator from the pole and place in its
..protective tube to prevent accidental damage.
..
• Stiffer medium action fishing rods are more effective with the Firstrike™ indicator
..than very flexible, ultra-light rods.
..
• The flag wire can be slightly bent toward or away from the body of the Firstrike™
..indicator to further adjust the triggering sensitivity in extreme conditions.
..
• For best results, set the trigger sensitivity to the most sensitive setting allowable
..while avoiding accidental flag trips from current or bait.
..
• Be sure trigger is placed completely in the forward position before loading the flag
..into the set position.
• Upon removing the Firstrike™ indicator from your fishing rod, the foam in the
..underside channel of the indicator may appear collapsed from being pressed
..against the rod. This condition is normal. The foam will return to its original
..state within a few days...
Ice fishing applications:
• Trigger mechanism comes pre-lubed with silicon grease to eliminate freeze ups.
..If needed, the user can apply more by completely removing the sensitivity
..control knob and lightly applying a small amount of silicon grease to the base
..and threads of the stud.
..
• On extremely windy days, point the tip of the fishing rod directly into the wind.
..This will reduce the fluttering motion of the flag caused by strong winds.
..
• In colder temperatures, avoid placing the unit in water or touching the sensitivity
..control knob with wet fingers. Excess water on the hands could migrate from the
..fingers to the trigger mechanism of the Firstrike™ indicator and increase the
..possibility of a freeze up.
.
• When using heavy braided lines for big fish applications, waterproof or coated
..lines will eliminate line freezing.
